Scotty's Lures - Barra set

A little set of lures I put together this week with a couple of fizzers for barra.
Quite a complex colour pattern that kinda looks rough using the air brush, hand brush and foil work.
I sometimes find it harder to make the paintwork distressed than if I was air brushing for a perfect finish.
Lures still need clear coat and will look a million dollars once applied.

Do you hand carve or are they
Do you hand carve or are they done on a lathe with a template. They do look good

Hey Russ, all these are hand carved with lots and lots of hand sanding, ali bibs and poly props are all hand cut and shaped. For my lures that I sell I tend to favour the bandsaw, belt sander, dremel , pedestal drill, anything that helps me get repeatability / consistency as alot of the lures I make have a certain style or action whether that be at rest or being ripped through the water.
I only make small batches of lures at a time so I can afford to be way more hands on, if I made lures in any real numbers I would need to step up the process.
It took me two days to paint these 6 lures and at that rate I'm a poor man for the investment I have made versus the return lol - lucky I love it lol and the return I get goes back into materials and equipment.

It's all about the passion in what you do . Like owning a boat, never get your money back in any way but it's what you enjoy doing. For you would be rewarding to see fish being caught on the lures you make .

I make some real shockers too lol and they live in the recycle box.
