Sea fox reviews?

Does anyone own a sea fox or owned one previous, that has first hand experience with the quality of these boats?, i am currently looking at a late model 236 WA sea fox, 2300 wellcraft and 23 keywest,

the sea fox is priced the best value for coin.

I have read alot of forum reviews from the yanks, and they bash them a fair bit, however i think they are all grady/boston owners maybe a little bit bias?

Seafox

I havent owned one but the explanation I was given by a boat yard in the states was that Seafox are an entry level boat. The finish and fitout is not as good as the Grady's, Wellcraft or even Key West for that matter. It is like saying that a Commodore or Falcon are no good. When you compare them to an Audi or BMW them yes, they would fall short, but as always you get what you pay for.

The KeyWest 2300 for sale on this site looks to be a good buy, and considering all the hard work of importing has been done it would be wise to at least have a look at it (no affiliation), but you may be looking for the Walkaround model.

When I was looking I narrowed mine down to Seaswirl and KeyWest. Of the Keywests, I actually think the 225 looks better than the 230 and seems to weigh a fair bit less as well.

Good luck, and either way you will end up with a good boat.

I own a 2006 Seafox 25.7

Tue, 2012-02-14 09:20

I own a 2006 Seafox 25.7 Ft.

twin 115 mercury's on the back.

Sits on 35knotts all day long, handles swell rather nice, you do get a tad wet though but Meh, Comfortable boat to ride in, would definatly not compare it to a "commodore" but hey bradz must know alot about them if hes never owned one :P lol.

End of the day personal preferance and i love mine, heaps of room to move, Toilet, shower, deck wash, live wells, kill tanks, double bed / couch thingo @ the front.

Took her out to the FADS for the first time last weekend, got rough out there but we stayed all day.

Katsy, Ill upload some pics asap for ya.

Commodores

Tue, 2012-02-14 10:27

There is nothing wrong with a Commodore at all. It just isnt a BMW. And no, I dont own a BMW (instead a 20 year old Landcruiser).

Dont get me wrong, I am not rubbishing the Seafox, but was just putting it into perspective. Just like comparing a Ci4 Stradic to a TwinPower. Both are good reals but one is better than the other... but you do pay for the difference.

Have a look on the

Have a look on the Hulltruth.com Dont get carried away with people talking apples and oranges crap when comparing different brands, fact is they arent up to the standard as most of the other imported boats - both with ride and finish, so if you want a Whitney Houston for a bit less than an Angelina Jolie, then go for it, but if not, Id look a little harder.

Good luck

i owned the seafox mentioned above before matt and i could find no fault in the quality , other than the poor us wiring standard which i believe is common in most U.S. boats,( i had all boats rewire it) for the money it is an awesome boat!.  cheers

a lot of the "bad reviews" on the hull truth i believe are based on pre 2004 seafoxes, the later ones are much better than the older ones from what i researched before buying the one i imported.  cheers

Sailfish, Trophy & Prolines

Sailfish, Trophy & Prolines may be worth a look too. They seem like good value for money. Maybe another owner of these brands may like to comment.

Cheers for the feedback

Thu, 2012-02-16 21:50

Cheers for the feedback fellas, i have viewed a wellcraft and the seafox (a 216 WA), i thought the well craft was really cramped bugger all usable deck space, i felt like the 232 welcraft was the same size as the 216 seafox, the fininsh on both boats are ok, but no where compareable to a cruisecraft or a boston ect, definatley good bang for buck however, i ended up going with a 2008 236 seafox / 200 suzuki with 78hrs, already in transit, hope to be here in march, now to choose electronics anyone have lowrance HDS?, im thinking twin HDS 7`s or simrads if the handbrake allows haha

Seafox 236

Tue, 2013-12-03 09:52

katsy85 I am thinking of importing one of these 236 seafox. I would like to know what your opinion is on ride and comfort etc. Your experience would be regarded highly before I jump in the deep end.

Tue, 2013-12-03 15:00

I don't think Katsy is online anymore. I'm also not sure that he went through with the deal after the amount of trouble the above mentioned marine dealer/ importer put him through. Last I heard he was fighting to get his deposit back.

Keywest

Tue, 2013-12-03 18:52

I own a Keywest 23 WA, great boat mate. nice soft ride (especially after the ally I used to have ) handles very well and remarkably dry. The 225 on the back pushes it along nicely and it doesn't use a shit load of fuel and the 540ltr fuel tank gives it an excellent range. Everyone thats been out on it have all commented on how well it handles. I am pretty happy with it!

Seafox

Fri, 2013-12-06 10:29

Thanks for the info Dodgy. Would still like to hear from anyone who has actually been out in one of these seafox 236's There are other importers apart from the one mentioned above. Although it would seem easier and safer to just buy what's available here in WA. I missed a Leeder Tomcat with o/b that was at a good price in Bunbury "spewin"
