Seabird report
Just a few pics of the last couple of trips out. We headed out the Saturday before Aus day on awesome conditions, checking the pots first to to find 3 crays one of them a cracker that had been eaten by an occy ( always the big one damn it). Beaing so good we headed out into some deeper water but the Dhuies weren't playing the game but thankfully the Baldies were. The young fella got his first ever hooked in the nose, he was pretty wrapped as it was his first big fish.
Nice 12kg Bronzie to finish off the day
The Sargeant Baker had to be kept with the insistence of the young fella as he caught it
The Breaksea was a beauty at 460mm.
Went out again twice over the Aus day weekend a long day Friday for one bloody Baldie but Sat provided the goods with this 8kg Pinkie
Still no Dhuies and we hunted everywhere in the 20's to the 40's using fresh Wrasse and squid .Not to say they're not around as other guys out were getting them I'm just having one of those crappy droughts. Only one way to cure that is to keep heading out ;)

Nice pinky and gummy ... but
Nice pinky and gummy ... but what is that dirty baker doing out of the water?
Edit: ahh missed that line.
My bro kept one for bait once and it was iced overnite, he nicked the guts the next day and I nearly hurled the smell was so bad. Ever since then, keen to get them back in the water!

Funny you say that, comment
Funny you say that, comment was made at the filleting table that it had bowel problems. Good clean flesh for bait.

Nice feed
Nice feed of seafood mate, the Baker would have lasted 30 seconds on my boat, fillet off each side then straight onto the hooks and bomb's away. IMO one of the best Dhu baits you can get, plus i find if you catch a Baker there is usualy a Dhu or two in the same area.

Ha ha yeah I know what you're talking about. It's actually in the caravan park and can only be used by owners. The next best place to launch is Ledge.

Shark
Glad its you eating the shark and not me.
Cutting the fins off does nothing to stop the ammonia spreading through the flesh, you have to get the guts and the brown strip out from behind it as soon as it comes out of the water for best eating results.
Good catch and some top bait in the sargent bakers for next trip.

I actually did clean out the
I actually did clean out the guts and the brown strp from your earlier advice John. I cut off tail to bleed out and the fins so as there's not that much cleaning back at the ramp.

Apology
I apologise, from what I could see from the pics it didn't look like it had been cleaned

Nah no worries. Don't worry
Nah no worries. Don't worry I'd be dragged over the coals by a few of the old salts up there if I didn't clean it.
