is seabreeze ever right?

was just down at the beach for a couple of hours and a beautiful south wester was coming through. Annoyed that i couldnt have a tailor bash tonight i checked seabreeze which says light NW.
Is it more reliable off shore cuz doesnt seem to be much use land based?

same - went out yesterday
same - went out yesterday expecting 4/5 kn northerly and after 1/2 hour of relative calm we copped about 15/20 kn south westerlies... was not fun. lucky i didnt go too far out...

Variable light conditions
We seem to be close to a change with light conditions. It can be quite variable in those circumstances. I was at the S-Bends recently and the conditions changed at least 3 times in a matter of hours in the afternoon and evening. People left at dark bacause it was too cold with the SW winds. 10 mins later... it was flat!
I use Seabreeze as a good indicator and that's all. Being land based, that's all I can do as I have things like weed, variable conditions and wankers to contend with. Let's face it guys... if I relied on the info from FW to catch something I could well have some pretty variable results. It's only a web site trying to do all the right things.

yea good point trigger, n i have to admit there have been occasions when seabreeze has been spot on.
Maybe the trick is to check multiple web sites, im sure this has been discussed before and i will do a search but can anyone recomend another site that has proven reliable for weather predictions?

Still only indicators
Seabreeze uses live feeds from many credible sources and is only an aggregation of those feeds. It sure makes me smile when I check for conditions on the weekend on Wednesday or Thursday when I am already pretty much over the working week :) Again though, it's only an indicator. I am sure the pro fishos rely on other sources and also have come to the understanding that science is not exact and prepare themselves for all sorts of unpredictable situations.
My years of experience as a frustrated amateur is that I go in hope.... Seabreeze gives me that hope in a lot of instances :)

Never rely on it as gospel!
Use your weather charts and gestimate it from the sattelite photos.. all them circles with the Bar readings mean shit and dictate wind speed and direction ..
Bom has a kiddies class guide to understanding weather..
If your fishing near a radar look at the radar and wind direction/speed, its relevant to 1/2 hr or so..
Compare it to sites like Seabreeze to try and see if the prediction is sort of correct..
how many times you seen that Hawt chick on the news telling the Weather...
How many times does she get it right....

where are the weather charts available from?
I would have thought the people who make the predictions available on the websites have a lot of experience at predicting the weather and would probably be better at it than me. I already have 500 odd pages of reading a week to get through plus a shit load of writing so if i can avoid learning to predict the weather that would be great.
Just saw that willyweather predicted the southwester that came through. Anyone had much experience with that site?
Edit sorry just worked it out BOM = bureo of meteorology, thanks mate took me a while to work that one out. will probably be pretty usefull!

When working as a pro we used to check Buoyweather, BOM and even ring up the duty forecaster at BOM to get their opinion if one wasn't certain on the predictions.Hadn't even heard of Seabreeze then.
Part of doing a skippers ticket is a section on weather and forecasting so it comes in very handy when your bum may be in a swing if you make a prediction and it goes wrong.

Short answer...
No, seabreeze is not often right. I think we were taught when doing the RST to only trust BOM.
Even looking at buoy weather early on Saturday morning, it gave 2 red flags for the metro area suggesting hazardous conditions, you could have taken a dinghy 50km out!
All in all, you have to use your own disgression and not get caught in a situation you can't get out of.

i agree it is very frustrating and i have been let down many a times from a report , but you gotta keep on ya toes and respect the ocean we all know that the ocean and weather is unpredictable at many times , even with a forecast . Just gotta go with the flow with fishing , if you cant go outwide go inshore an try an target other species .
