Seafox 257 Questions
Hi guys,
I am looking to purchase a Seafox 257 2001 with a evinrude 250hp.
On searching the forums I noticed a few guys had talked about owning one and was hoping to answer some questions.
First is the weight. Has anyone who has owned one actually thrown it over a weighbridge? I know the manufacturers put the dry weights etc etc but my experience in the past is that when you rig a boat up its weight is a world difference. I ask this as I was hoping for a real world weight so I can work out if my vehicle can legally tow it or not.
Second any general comments on the ride or quality. I know alot of the guys on the forums in the US bash them a bit but understandly they are grady owners and BW owners and we are talking different class of boats and price ranges. Any comments on running them in WA?
and lastly if anyone has ran a boat of similar specs approx what sort of fuel usage did you guys get?
Thanks
Jd

FICHT
if the outboard is a 2001 FICHT, then the outboard has around zero value. They are notorious and drove Evinrude into bankruptcy I'm led to believe.
Its said FICHT stands for Fk I Cant Handle This.

seafox 257
hi mate i imported a 2005 seafox 257 (which i sold to forum member Trueblue3) and it rode very nicely and handled some very severe weather with ease , it has twin 115 fourstroke mercs and did 36.5knts flat out on still water the one i had was a very nice boat although i did get it rewired as the u.s. wiring was shit, i did hear however when i was looking for mine that the earlier seafoxes <2003 were not as good in the build quality??, as far as weight goes im not sure but around 3 tonnes+ as you could feel it on my petrol v8 landcruiser for sure. cheers

Hey JD
I'm the owner of Ryan's old boat. two words, Love it.
Comfy ride, economical, It is heavy. I tow it with a 2010 Mazda BT-50 3L Turbo Diesel.
Yes and Ryan said it Flies in the water! I do get a tad wet though, but we have tackeled that by clears all round and well, rainjackets![](http://fishwrecked.com/sites/all/libraries/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/tounge_smile.gif)
I am taking it all the way to Carnarvon / Coral bay next week. Can't wait!
It is a very practical fishing boat with the kill tanks and eskies built in, Toilet area, deck wash. and even enough room to roll the swags out and stay out overnight (we did over easter @ Rotto, very nice)
Let us know how you go JD
