secondary oil reservoir can you get smaller tanks?

hello all
in the proccess of getting a motor installed on my boat, would be good to have a smaller oil reservioir
as space is an issue, i have called around and mercury do not make anything smaller than a 10l tank
does anyone know of any aftermarket brands or another possible engine manufacture that has a smaller tank
that would be compatible for a optimax??
might sound dumb, can you get a custom one built, aluminium maybe?
thanks in advance

Cant see why you couldnt get
Cant see why you couldnt get one fabricated from ali. Equally, you may check out some of the plastic welders around. Cant see why that wouldn't be an option. Someone may know a bit more about that. I started making one from fibreglass, so you could look at that as well. Good luck. John

You’d probably have to get
You’d probably have to get one fabricated. If they’re anything like the Yammi one I have though, there are oil level senders which trigger “low oil buzzer” and also the line to the pump to the reserve under the cowling. You’d want all those connected. Other thing of course is that a smaller volume tank is going to skew when your “low oil limp mode” kicks in.
Probably going to be a pain in the ass.
