Settings advice Garmin 75SV (sounder noob)

Gday all, I have purchased a Garmin 75SV Combo for my 5m glass boat, I live in Bunbury and fish anywhere from 10m inshore to 40m offshore. The transducer is the original one that came with it (I believe it's a GT52HW-TM). I know settings can vary, but my question is. What settings should I be running to get a clear and good picture/reading, what settings should I play around with to get it right?

Thank you.

I also have the Echomap 75sv.

I also have the Echomap 75sv. The Transducer GT 52 is not the best for offshore work.
The transducer struggles with depths over 40mts in choppy seas. It only has a maximum transmit power of 300wts.
For offshore work bottom bouncing etc, leave the settings on auto, use traditional sounder and bottom lock. The Downscan and sidescan seems limited to approx. 10mts.
You have two options to improve the sounder capability -
1) Purchase a GT 51 Transducer @ $700
2) Purchase the GT30 Side and Downscan Transducer @ $240, a dual frequency P66 Transducer @ $179 and an 8/12 pin to 12 pin Transducer cable adapter @ $60

The GT51 Transducer is basically twice as powerful as GT52.
The GT30 and P66 option gives the same powered sidescan and downscan as the GT51. And the P66 gives a better traditional sounder frequency of 50 - 240 hz.
I currently run 2 x 75sv and have opted to run one on the GT30/P66 option for offshore and the other left on GT52 for creek and estuary work.

Which echomap?

Which echomap version do you have? Echmap, Echomap Chirp, or the newest plus model?

I have the Echomap Chirp 95sv which has the same sounder module as yours. I ran the GT52HW for a while and it works really well near shore. I used it up to 60m bottom bashing and it was good. People say because it is a 300w transducer it's no good but you have to remember that when you chirp a transducer you are putting that 300w through a lot of frequencies at once into the water column so you can't compare it to the old style fixed freq transducers like P66.

For settings I run mine in auto, split screen the bottom lock, and adjust the TVG to get the clearest picture. I don't want to see every blowfish, I want to see the better fish aggregations to increase my chances.

Transducer setup/placement plays the biggest part in sounder performance.

I ender up changing over to the GT51TM to get more depth and can hold bottom out to about 280m. I picked up an unused one in a box off ebay for $450.
