Shark Bay Camping

 Gday All,

I have got 8 days off with the missus, she has to work Xmas day so starting driving boxing day. The plan is to go to Shark Bay camping and hopefully wet a line off the beach. Planned to do it last year but fell through. Is anyone else going up there and any recommendations on camping grounds as never been. Hopefully we haven't left it too late to secure a spot, other half rang and ask and apparently you just rock up and buy a permit, is this true?

Merry Xmas

Shark Bay Camping

BarraSlayer,

Tamala Station 9948 3994 or Nanga Bay Resort 9948 3992, great fishing at Tamala and good beach access at Nanga Bay Resort. If you do not have kids I would suggest Tamala Station.

 Peron national park camp

Peron national park camp sites are as you say first in best dressed basis, pay at the honor box at the entry to the park. Some good camp sites at big lagoon and South Gregory's but 4x4 only. You need to take everything yourself there is no water only thing provided is composting toilets. Big fines if you camp outside the designated areas, ranger comes by frequently no fires

Mate just got back from Denham and would have to say that you would need to be very keen to camp, very warm, extremely windy during the day and night that would make camping very uncomfortable. Do yourself a favour and try and book into one of the villas at the caravan park, they are actually pretty reasonably priced and atleast have showers and cooking facilities.

So Far

Mon, 2014-12-29 22:01

Guys at Tamala said their wouldn't be much water around so went to Big Lagoon for 3 nights, nice swimming spot & got whiting on high tide and little pinkies in the morning. Not that blowy until yesterday arvo. Dolphins swimming out front first couple of days. Heat in middle of day was bad & fly's were bad (missus was suffering) but had those tube scares so only pulled them down to eat & drink beer.

Change of spot today to Shelter Bay, drive out was good fun. No fly's here since 330pm when we rocked up  but windy - coming from south so going to cast into it. ARB fridge is playing up so don't know if food will last planned 5, either voltage drop, bad earth or solar panels are crap.... Struggling to freeze and check light comes on went car is not on for a while. Got some ice in Denham but only have 4 20L eskies so see how long that will last.

I got two bars phone reception here and thought I'd look up FW!!
