Sharked dhu off Mindarie

After taking my boys to sport yesterday I snuck out for an arvo run off Mindarie, by the time I launched at 2pm the weather had turned to shit! I pressed on to a spot in 37m that’s been good to me lately and first drops hooked up to a sizeable dhu which I pulled the hooks on halfway to the boat ( #%##!) got a nice blackbum next drop which went into the icebox then it was quiet for a bit so I moved to the edge of the coral lump and hooked a steam train , 5 minutes or so into the fight with what I called for a 15kg dhu it just started to float up when i lost 100m of line in a second  and things went slack , wound in to find my top swivel and 30cm of shredded 130lb rig left . Must of been a bloody big shark ! First time I’ve been sharked on a dhu ever. Any way I headed for home in the building Westerly and had 2 drops on new little bits of ground I found on the way in for a nice 65cm dhu to round out my solo bag. Very frustrating arvo on Dhu’s.

Brutal. I had a bronzey that

Brutal. I had a bronzey that was at least half the size of my 5m boat chase a sambo up on Sat. An hour or so later my deckie 7 cans of bourbon down decides to do a cannonball off the back of the boat at which point I remind him that were back on the same lump where the bronzey was. Never seen anyone climb back into a boat that fast!

We fished cervantes yesterday and had a double header followed to the surface by the biggest shark I have seen in a long time- must have gone at least 4m

Yeh, I never got sharked in

Mon, 2018-02-05 15:54

Yeh,

I never got sharked in Perth for the first 10-12 years I had a boat.

But lately, had a few including this one.

Nice Mr Sharky let me wind this big arse cod to 20m before he peeled off 200m on line on full drag and then bit the fish off behind the head.

Glad I never saw what did it....
