Make great live baits for the bigger sharks , was fishing a league comp - weighed a 70kg diamond ray for a angler who then swam it as a livey and caught an approx 75kg bronzie .....
Haha next time I won't be so lazy , i should of swum one of those grey sharks or at least sent out a head on the slide . The tigers will be arriving shortly and il be swimming some eagles this summer .
pretty sure they arn't protected but it most likely got released due to tigers having a high mercury content in there blood like most sharks after a certain size
tigers are classified under whaler sharks according to fisheries & there is a MAX size of 700mm between dorsal & caudal fin- means sharks about 1.8m & over are no take. there is also a bag limit of 2
Thanks for the Info guys. Well ive just learned something new, didn't know sharks had mercury in there tissue or any sea animal thinking it would be poisonous to them too.

Eat
Sharks will eat nearly anything and if it is struggling you can bet on it.
Found with lemon sharks up north that their jaws are usually full of snapped off catfish spines and stingray barbs so it can't worry them too much

Yep, I've read reports of people using stingray wings for catching big tigers over east.
Saw a huge tiger getting stuck into on in about 2m of water in Monkey Mia a couple of years back now I think of it too.

Live Bait
Rays make very good live bait for big sharks. I have had a 90+kg ray eaten by a shark during a fight.

I Remember
A bloke having a massive run off the ammo jetty one sunny afternoon, it soon stopped and started leaping in the air.
The local seal was making a meal of it!!
