Shaun's Mulloway
Submitted by honsu chin on Thu, 2011-03-17 10:36
Oceanside Staff, Shaun have been chasing mulloway lately. Last Saturday night went out late and managed to hook one very late. Got it close enough for a good look but was lost when it went for its next run. Estimated around 20kg, quite a large fish. Sunday night I decided to join him for a short session. 1 hour into it and he got a run and gently set the hooked. We beefed up our gear this time, running 15 and 24kg spinning gear and 120lb leader. It was a short fight and was quickly gaffed. Smaller fish, estimated at around 9-10kg but a mulloway nonetheless.
Please excuse the poor pic, blame Nokia...

Nice croaker Shaun. Hopefully the next 20kg will make it to the shore. Seems you're hooking into a few, so maybe just a matter of time.

Great fish to Shaun! I was beginning to think he was all talk as I really haven't seen much photographic evidence that he can actually catch fish! haha
