Shelter bay steep point

 Evening all,

Chasing some info on shelter bay steep point.

I am heading up there next friday for 8 days.

With a 5.2m westerberg and 2 cars.

I am possibly considering to stay at denham the night and drive the boat accros the following morning.

Anyone heard on track conditions?

Also any tips of fishing from the area?

Thanks in advance

Bryan

Give Joe a call on 0419902895, he does storage for boats, cars and trailers in a lock up yard   while owners are on Dirk or fishing

Club Fishos

Wed, 2019-05-15 20:35

Some of our Club fishos just got back on Monday after being there for 8 days.

Apparently track was as bad as usual. Hills negotiable.

You may recall last weeks weather up there.....good trip over from Denham, very windy while they were there and good trip back. Typical.

Plenty of fish when they could fish, but Sharks were a nuisance.

I was going to go as well, but pulled out due to the wind. I've rebooked for June 9th for a week....hopefully better weather

Just got back on the weekend, I drove my boat across the cars that drove in said track was bad.

Could only fish out deep twice due to winds but got a good feed both times.

good numbers of baldies this year even in 90 metres.

sharks were alot worse than normal we nearly ran out of weights and would of if we fished every day.

What’s the biggest boat you would attempt to trailer in there without busting up the track  5.8

or is it easier just driving across

Too big

Sat, 2019-05-18 19:56

i reckon 5.8m is too big to get up the big sand hill. We take off-road trailers in and I’ve seen smaller boats, but 5.8 would be a mission

I'd volunteer to take the boat over.

Every time. 30 mile or so vs bashing that  track? You could even load the boat up with the jerries, unload when you get there.

That’s what we do

Boat goes over with 12 jerries + water +grog, car and trailer goes in with camping gear.

Last thing you want is the grog all shook up. Made that mistake once before and lost some through rubbing together

Yeah was thinking how to load it all. Apparently the track is in really bad condition spike to the ranger today. And then checked forcast for Saturday to go over and its high 30kms winds looks like will be a slow ride over in car and boat. Good call on the booze in the boat though

I have taken a 6m trail craft in  for the last 4 years it’s easy and doesn’t chew up the track just go slow over corrugated bits and boat will be fine.. have also taken 5.5m chives fibre glass in with a fair amount of weight in it
