Shimano Stradic Ci4...
Submitted by kfish on Thu, 2012-05-03 13:50
I'm tossing up between the Shimano Stradic Ci4 1000F or 2500F to pair with a AJN 5ft 6 carbon rod.
Looking for something similar in size to my Pflueger Patriarch 9530. How small are the Ci4 1000F compared to the 2500F and Patriarch 9530?

i have the 1000 and have used the 2500 many times, the 1000 is tiny, like really tiny but is much better suited for what you are decribing (its waht i use mine for) the 2500 is a great option but is borderline over kill on things like your average flatty and river fishing imo

Went to BCF to check out the differences, the 2500F is the same size as my Patriarch 9530, and the 1000F is tiny!
Leaning towards the 1000F now because I think it suits the 5ft 6 rod better, and can handle 6kg salmon.

1000 is a good choice i think. you would be suprised what they can handle. It just comes down to angling the fish and making it tired. There was a good video of Fuzzle catching a 14.7kg pinkie in prob about 30m of water on a 1000 sized reel. Just comes down to patience. I think the 1000 personally.

Sorry to butt in on your tread mate, just a quicky and it's all yours again, would the 1000 suit a 7 footer or would I go the 2500.
Cheers

Not sure, depends what the rod the rod is rated to and how heavy it is. i have a twinpower 1000 (heavier than the stradic ci4 1000 by about 15grams) and it is slightly too light for a 2-4kg rod. I would only consider the 1000 sized reel on a 1-3kg rod.
