Snapped stradic handle

 Anyone seen this before?

Snapped off at the handle and stem/spindle, on a 10 month old 5000 FJ stradic. It actually let go as I was putting it back in a rod holder! Looks as though both the handle and the spindle have fatigue cracks though?

anyway, hopefully I can find the receipt and claim warranty, otherwise where is good to buy parts?

Ring Shimano Australia. You

Ring Shimano Australia. You may have to send the reel to them or photos. May be covered under warranty or if not you should be able to buy a new one from them. Also plenty of aftermarket handles and knobs available in internet land.

You shouldn't have to pay for postage if making a legit warranty

Tue, 2016-03-29 13:25

claim.

See here: Returning a Product
https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees/repair-replace-refund

You can claim it back from them (cost of postage) but most big players like that would have a reply paid address they can provide you to return using.

Cheers,

Shimano Biomaster 8000

Wed, 2016-03-30 08:48

My Biomaster broke at the same point. Compleat Angler Nedlands were great as I got the reel for xmas from the mrs (who has a habit of not keeping receipts). She found the purchase on a bank statement so I knew the date and time. The guys looked it up and re-produced the receipt for me.

Shimano had the reel repaired within a week.
