Snapper on the BBQ
Submitted by choc on Sat, 2013-08-03 09:29
Having a BBQ tonight with a couple of snapper that I caught last night.
Can anyone tell me how long I should cook these on the BBQ.
I normally fillet my fish because its easier for the kids.

Could make or break your bbq
Could make or break your bbq prowess .. I was ridiculed and demoted to snags after undercooking a snapper on a bbq many years ago .. good luck

Cant help with cooking time, usually just fillet them and then chuck them and the backbone on the barby..

Put it in a baking tin with a little bit of water in the bottom or the fish will dry out and cover with foil, if your barbbie has a hood. You'd be looking at around 30-40 mins for a fish that size. To check I usually lift where the dorsal fin is which is the thickest part. Secret is to no overcook.

That's good to hear choc.
That's good to hear choc. I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to cooking fish though, minimal of anything usually a little butter in the gut and on the sides. When cooked I serve with salad and potatoes oh yeah a glass of Sauv blanc ;)
