GOLDEN PONDS

Just thought id throw a few pics up from our day at Golden Ponds today. Had a great day today as i did this time last year. Heaps of trout in a few of the ponds probobly caught 30 to 40 between 3 of us, all catch and release.

This year unlike last year they were fairly picky on what lures they would take. The winners lure wise for the day were a little red Ecogear SX40 and very small spinners.

They were reasonable size about 30 to 40cm and a good laugh on an average day.

Tried for other stuff Koi, perch, bream etc but no luck once again. No idea how people catch them weve tried everything now.

Anyways heres a few pics, the last one is just a stupid one but again just a laugh because they were so hard to hold to photograph without doing them to much harm.. Only took a few early on then we lost interest in takeing pictures but we got some a little bit bigger later in the day.

Well worth the 10 bucks in my opinion.

Golden Ponds

Glad you guys got fish. I brought about 30 school students there at the end of last term for 1 trout. (and believe me, they fished hard). We all fished with corn and those black pellets so looks like lures are the way to go. Don't bother about any other lake apart from that small rectangular one at the back of shops and the one out from the carpark. The others are so quiet there wouldn't even be dead fish in there.
Will be bringing another group in 8 weeks time. Hope it turns it on this time.

Thanks guys was a fun day.. Yeh those trout have nothing on the wild ones but definately better then work.. :-)

Plenty around now ctan1968.. We caught a couple on corn for a laugh definately worked better then lures but I like the challenge..

Trout

Thanks Belly, Had 30 disgruntled students wanting to throw me into the pond for promising so much and delivering nothing.

Oh well, that's fishing - tell that to 30 14 year olds.

Which pond did you get most activity, and did I read it correct when you said most were caught on corn?

Cheers

Most were caught on lures but this was because thats what we mostly fished with. My little brother (the blonde one) wanted to catch some on corn so at the end of the day he swapped to a small float and a small hook with a piece of corn and he was out fishing me 3 or 4 to 1.  So bait was definately better. Think he caught a couple on bread and pellets also.

The only ponds we caught fish in were the small rectangle one behind the shop and the round one with a fountian in front of the reception..

If you throw some pellets in the water you will see them jumping and eating the pellets pretty quick if they are in there.

Hope this helps..

Thanks again,

Yep we fished both of those ponds from about 10-11.30am for FA.  Same set up as you just said with a float and corn/pellets.

These kids had completed a whole fishing course at school so they were keen and not a bunch of muppets just wanting a day off school.

Dissapointing the guy told us to fish the other ponds for bream and then at the end told us they were stocked 3 years ago.....Not a good call there.

 Nice little golden pond

Nice little golden pond sesh!I  have caught koi, carpe, barramundi, silver and golden perch, big black bream there....

couldnt catch a trout to save my life.

my secret is pellets, water and flour. smash up all the pellets then add a little water and bind it all together with some flour till very sticky.  mould it on to your hooks shaped liked a slug, worm.

Works well on mullet and buffs too ;)
