Submitted by carnarvonite on Tue, 2008-12-30 16:58
Just came over GWN news that 2 blokes snorkelling near Steep Point have been run over by a boat with one being killed and the other chap seriously injured. Two cops from Water police are on their way up there to do enquiries.
Nothing more to add at this moment, should come up on channel 7 in their news

That's bad news. It hasn't been a good week for snorkelers.

Maybe only one hit
Just talked to a mate in the Bay.....he said there was only one person hit and killed....lost a limb and bled out....
story is may have been some 'silly bugger business' with the driver.....only rumour though.
feel sorry for the victims family and friends......

The word "snorkelling" has
The word "snorkelling" has been deleted from the definition of diving because it placed an obligation on people snorkelling from the beach and in the river to display a dive flag.

Bit disturbed by Terry's suggestion that dive flags may not offer any obligation if displayed by snorkellers and perhaps they shouldn't have them up. They're actually more important for freedivers than scuba because you have to spend so much time on the surface because you don't have canned air.
