I'm after a bit of help with setting up a start point for soft plastics targetting pink snapper. yes I know the season is about to close. I will be able to practice for next year.
I have some 6 inch gulp and a 1oz lead hook that I have rarely used.
this week in the sound I had great sounder readings but couldn't get get a bait to last more than a few minutes, (mulies and squid heads)
I put a small bait down and got about a doxen 80mm - 120mm pinkies in 5 mins then moved. I think there were bigger fish among the small ones and could have targeted them with some plastics that catch.
the ones Ive seen guys using seem to be mostly whitish.
what size jig heads are the go?

Depends on the depth your
Depends on the depth your fishing and whether your drifting or anchored. If anchored in the sound or around the reefs id be throwing 1/4 oz jig heads with 5 or 7 inch Zman streakz in all directions and just let them slowly sink with a very slow retrieve. If drifting 1oz to 1.5 or 2 oz depending on speed of drift . For snapper the lighter the better. Good luck.
