Soft plastics

Can anyone please give some insight as to what are the best soft plastics to use for flathead (swan river) and what sort of rig is required to get them. I'm thinking just a jig head but not sure what size hook. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

 I use Squidgy soft plastics

I use Squidgy soft plastics or Zman Grubz (Darker colours like black/gold) most of the time, or Gulp 15cm bloodworms on as lighter jig head as you can get away with. I generally use 1/24 oz to 1/8 oz most of the time. Before you cast out make sure the lure swims properly and you've rigged it straight through the middle. Watch out for blowies though because they will demolish most Soft Plastics.

I have found I have got most my fish on Zman grubz in violet sparkle, and also the 3" minnowz in opening night/bright pink.

I know flangies used to love using the snapback minnows in bottle green colour for them.... when you could still find them!

Ended up with some squidgies and a packet of Zman 2.5" grubs. I'm going for a play in few hours and have never used a soft plastic so this will be interesting. Thanks for your feedback. Now for a 50cm flatty ;)

like mentioned about the zman grubs are best for the river during the day time they seem to be the best plastics as far as long lasting goes. if you use Berkly one blowy hit and there gone.. also really effective. I use to use berkley now completely gone to zman's
