Solo beach launch/retrieve?
Submitted by butch33 on Wed, 2010-05-19 18:53
Due to work hours sometimes its hard to get a decky and I have never solo beach launched and retrieved. Launching is ok as I have third wheel on trailer but should I anchor boat while parking car? I have seen a few people retrieve on cable beach and the method I like is beaching boat, then drag boat up beach with car and trailer, then reverse trailer under boat and winch on. Anyone else have any good methods? When dragging boat up beach where should I attach rope on trailer and boat?
I have a 4.2mt tinny.

Hey butch33, im always doing
Hey butch33, im always doing it solo in broome also as i work two and two and during week no one to go fishing with... I have a 435 quintrex Hornet and depending on how strong im feeling at the time i usally anchor it out a little while I get the car then sometime take the trailer off with 3rd wheel down push it out, load boat then if I can, push it back out to car... Sometimes also hook up a rope to front of trailer and drag it out also...
And sometime just back the car in depending on swell on cable beach....Which I hate doing... With my shallow hull i dont need alot of water to float the boat which is good also....
If ever need a deckie mate, holla....

beach retrieve
Up in Exmouth in some of the camps I've seen them use from 1 to 4 sections of heavy duty PVC in different configurations to get the boat out of the beach waves.
Admittedly it's two people usually dragging it up.
The tinnies slide better on the PVC and once clear of the beach break you can drag it onto the trailer in your own time.
For the rope I'd go for 8mm to 11mm climbing rope and attach to the bow cleat.

Hey ButchWhen launching by
Hey Butch
When launching by myself i just pull the dinghy as far as i can onto the beach, then maybe set the anchor in the dry sand, if the weather is dodgy.
But other than that I agree with danno.
