Some ideas on the annual fishing trip please
Hey All,
Just looking for some input & comments on doing the annual fishing trip this year.
Pretty much can swing 1-2 weeks off work any point of this year from March to September.
Budget isn't really too much of an issue, except the cheaper the better :)
We have a 23ft walkaround with 200 on the back.
Would say we (myself, brother in law, 2 others) are 'intermediate' anglers.....
Options that we have considered (but I am sure there are others);
1) Abrolhos on a charter - have done this twice, great time, good fishing - if you have the weather.....cost = relatively cheap, time required = low
2) Charter to Montebellos - looks awesome... cost= high, time required= more
3) Take the boat up to the Mackerals either on a 'seafari' or go it alone, cost=medium, time required=medium.....
4) Take Boat to Kalbarri, low cost, low time req'd
Would like a good mix of bottom fishing, sport fishing whatever...
I am also supposed to be doing a 3-4 week trip with the missus sightseeing the Kimberleys sometime between June - Sept, so tying that in would be even better. Wouldn't be towing the boat all the way up there though :)
Anybody got ideas/input? Much appreciated :)
Cheers!
Pete

Exmouth
Hi Pete
We do a trip to Emouth every year and it is usually really good, great fishing, nice little town with everything you need and quite cost effective considering the fishing opportunities available with bottom bashing and sport fishing.

It is, my brother got a puncture up there and the guy that helped him out said; "knew you weren't a local, you only had one spare".

EXmouth would get my vote.
EXmouth would get my vote. Reatively cheap to stay and get there along with heaps of fishing options. The cape is great as you get a chance to fish in almost all wind directions, other places can get completely blown out with any wind with some westerly in it.

i wish
i had a mother ship.It would be alot more comfy than a swag.It is only a 2 and a half hour run from exxy to the mackies. We take about 3 days to fish our way over trolling and poppers and stickbaiting all the way. Throw in a couple of dives and you have an awesome week trip.

Fish all day and camp on the islands! Walk the reef at low tide and catch a feed of cray. Even catch fresh bait in bait fish and squid/occy for the next day. Chase ghost crabs for bluebone and if you come about now escort baby turtles into the sea, but dont pick them up. Ripper fun for all ages.
Catch up with the Pilbarra crew and no doubt they will show you some fun. A little different from the Exxe and Mackerels always!
