some sounder pics from a recent trip to two rocks. couldn't get anything apart from dhu to round out the bag. caught pretty much everything within an hour, was a slow day otherwise.

Nice effort
Solid breaksea! I'm reasonably happy with my lowrance but geez the furuno bottom lock displays a lot better.

How do you know it's limestone? Is it the same bottom in the other photos?

Because of personal
Because of personal experience.
Different bottom from rest for sure.they may be hard but they arent as hard and not ledgy crevisy..bottom trace is thicker on 37m spot even though its shallower . You get them reads on ground that's undulating..ledgey crevisy stuff.

No fish but doesn't mean
No fish but doesn't mean they weren't there. Bite had shut down. I read it as either a solid school of something solid or a cave with a few fish around. Either way looked fishy to me

Yep agree with Maggot Looks
Yep agree with Maggot. Looks like porous limestone to me
The only prob with Auto gain, is it runs too high a gain for me.
Be great pics all the same and thanks for sharing.

Sounder pic!
Yo Jarrid,
Having owned and used Furuno commercial sounders for over 10 years my thoughts;
Pic 4 is a limestome ledge and I dont see fish. Normally at that hight it holds good crays and it can hold a fish or two so worth a quick drift!
Manual everything for me so you can fine tune your sounder!
Ps. nice looking esky non the less

seems to be the consensus
seems to be the consensus that pic 4 is limestone.
any thoughts on pic 2 in particular, as well as what you think the bottom is in pics 1 and 3?
also, have you got any settings for a 295 that are worth a crack to compare to auto? i generally fish between 30 and 50m.
i think it reads pretty bloody good in auto to be honest.

Broken ground!.sand /small
Broken ground!.sand /small patches of rubble and weed.
If youve got a go pro send it down one day.that will fast track your learning of the basics of your sounder.

Im even more confused at pic
Im even more confused at pic 4 now haha.
Which part of the sounding is the actual bottom, the solid red bar at 35m or the fuzzy stuff above it?

Sometimes youll get that
Sometimes youll get that seperation as in pic 4 if your picking up the overall main height of the area but there is a higher bit ( limestone bombie)off to the side of the beam.
Or there is bulk bait and the gain is high.
Either way beau that bottom trace is the actual bottom .hope that helps mate!
A few drives over that spot from different directions would easily confirm it.

Cheers that's what i thought
Cheers that's what i thought but when Ryan said no fish at all i got a bit confused because i thought the fuzz was bait, what you say makes sense to me. Looking forward to getting some pics of my own for you to guys to interpret, at the moment all i know is what sambos and pinks look like

The solid red bar Beau, that
The solid red bar Beau, that shows hard rock bottom. The bottom lock pic on the left shows it clearer, up where we fish usually hit that type of ground in the 40m mark. And that's where we get the bulk of our Baldy's.
