Love your home made dehydrator. How many watts below and do you run a fan as well? Could you share the design? I have a smaller one with the bulb on the side and a computer fan, but would like a bigger unit so I can dry Tuna to make shavings.

2 light bulbs, the old type not sure of the wattage tho. 2 big PC fans ontop. The light bulbs are connected to a temp control unit. A stainless perferated sheet above the globes and a lift lid. When I have some spare time in the next 2 months I hope to make one too.

but I have used Rump (when I could bulk buy @ $9.99 a kg). The rump tends to be just that little bit more tender

Topside is good also, I mostly use silverside any cut thats lean is good. My box stands 1200 high and is made from 1 sheet 1200x2400 mdf and has 80w flood light globe, takes 3-4 days for biltong to be dry... shit I better make some for the weekend, bathurst, biltong and burbon...heaven and maybe a blowjob.
