They are sweep. I test this by pulling the jig/bait up 15m+ off bottom slowly. If your sounder shows them follow it up it’s generally sweep or sambos. If they stay on bottom and disappear they could be something better, change up your rig to jig/plastic/bait and try again. They are not big fish though. What your sounder is showing there is two different depths (echos) of hard ground in the cone, ie a ledge. The bottom pic is when your drift line is best because the top echo is harder and not changing density quickly, meaning you are travelling right along the drop off edge where fish are most likely to be. The softer top echo means you are further from the ledge edge. When you see a hard top echo don’t get any angle of your line, keep pulling your rig up and throwing in front to avoid snags.

Yep very similar to us.
Yep very similar to us. Heaps of fish markednon the bottom and lots of bait around the spotstoo but no bites. Went home empty handed
