South Coast LB Blue

Hi all,

Had an average trip to the south coast for the annual boys trip. Usually we just catch salmon left right and centre but this year the fish Salmon were very very quiet.

Spent 2 days spinning for 1 salmon and then the wind wound up big time making fishing almost impossible.

Last couple of days I spent by myself as mates could not commit to the full length of time. I tossed up leaving seeing as the fishing was so bad but decided to stick it out.

Spent the last night fishing a lonely windy beach for Gummy sharks to no avail. So I got home and set the alarm for first light to spin for the Salmon one last time.

Awoke to calm conditions and started to flick lures out on the Blackhole monster Cabin and Stradic 8000 when i noticed a bright blue shape in the water right near me! Holy crap i thought thats a blue groper! So after a mad dash to the car getting my hooks (I only bought lures down) and 20 mins gathering rock crabs i finally tempted my first LB Blue grouper to hit an unweighted crab.

I have got big Blues before just not from the stones. It made the whole trip worth while and came in at a respectable 7.5 KG. I have got big Blues before just not from the stones.

Goodie
