south coast sharks, got the big ones!!!
With the salmon here its time to chase the big sharks!! went out today and caught some decent ones.
landed 2 sharks, mate lost a 3m+ one after fighting it for 3 hours, i lost another 2 much bigger than the ones i landed, all in all an awesome day with 30 big salmon caught and released (except for the ones used as baits).
both where caught on a toruim 50 with 1300m of 55lb line and shimano catana overhead rod. baits where whole salmon fillets on a slide bait rig.
first shark took 45 minutes to land and my back was killing after it,
soon as i released it my mate hooks up on a monster that took 900m of line from him in one run so out goes another bait from me with another 3 sharks swimming around below me. an hour later off goes my rod again and as the mono topshot dissapears i counted 600m in colours in my braid backing dissapear in one solid run!!!
1 hour and 45 minutes later beached this monster!!! i was well and truly buggered by this stage!!!
after relaesing it i got back and my mate is still fighting his monster with about 600m out of 1000 on his reel this was looking like a lost battle! 15 minutes later the skin fianly rubs through his line and it was over!!!
got plenty of good photos of big salmon on light gear but ill save them for later.
and this was just day 1 of my week in albany!!!
cheers chris.
always looking for a new challenge!!

the first shark i landed was the smallest one that was seen all day, there is some monsters down there just tryand keep your baits small like the size of a herring and some small ones should come through.

he rolled over on some
he rolled over on some barnacles and did it, i first hooked him about 300m further down those rocks you can see in the background and had to steer him over reefs and into the surf and get him to come to the beach.

very interested to know what type of noah it is
3rd photo down shows what appears to be a white belly on the shark is this so, reason i ask is there was some disscussion on another forum about a shark of the mouth of kalbarri last week. this sharks identity was up for dibate as some said gw others including myselfnot quite so sure. head was pointed like a gw but to lobe of tail was like that shark in your picture, also shark of kalbarri had white belly giving impression it is a gw. your shark has what appears to be a white belly.
just an observation an no direspect to any fw members

Oh yes it did Hahahaha, this rod was supposed to be just temporary till I bought a Poseidon but I've ended up using it all summer and when I get back I'll buy another and just convert it to low mount.

Bronzie's
Well done mate , some good looking sharks and some great pics . Love the way those bigger bronzies pull some string , wish they would come up to the metro instead of all these little rats swimming about up here. Did u get the precudal measurements , the bigger fish looks to be round the 80kg mark .

Not sure on lengths wasn't
Not sure on lengths wasn't really paying attention to a whole lot other than getting them back safely, the larger one was over 2.5m totally length I have a photo of me laying next to it and my feet are at the tail and my head doesn't event reach the pectoral fins. Smaller one was about 2.4-2.5 and just that one took 3 people to move it.
