hey fw members,
went down to hillarys with some berkely gulp with my dad (he didnt recon that you could get anything on sps) second cast smash i was on to a herring and then another i got 12 hook ups but lost five at the rocks :( my dad got three .
im definately getting a small outfit for my birthday 200 mark any recommendations im thinking of going to get it from bcf because of their buying power ...

Well done and keep it up. I'd shop around before assuming BCF would pass on the benefit of buying power. Besides there are a heap more tackle shops with people who can give you advice and actually fish themselves.

...also good targets for softies. By slowly working the lure near the base of the rocks, you can get right down to where the skippy normally are...really can't do that with any other type of lure, except perhaps a metal, but more likely to get snagged up with one of those.
If you get the chance, try the Berkeley Powerbaits as well...they are just as effective as the gulps and you can leave them on your jighead at the end of your fishing session because they don't dry out like gulps do. Powerbaits are becoming harder to find in good quantities because everyone's jumping on the Gulp bandwagon and most shops don't have the space to stock a good selection of both.
If you're stictly after herring, get the 6" gulp sandworms in the natural colour and cut them in half, then thread onto a 1/12oz jighead (TT's are the best)...absolute herring smasher!

yea completely agree with auslobster the power baits are alot better i dont by gulps anymore because they dont last and they stink. snap backs are my prefered brand but powerbaits second choice. and TT's are the best jig heads. and dont buy from BCF for reasons mentioned try the sponsered shops and let them know your from fishwrecked.

I went for herring with my mate friday night casting into other people burley.
Caugh a dozen each half on halco gold twisties and slices 10gram.
But also alot on soft plastics
including:
6" Gulp natural worms
2" camo worms
2" new penny shrimp
and also
squidgy pro flickbaits
also lost alot in the rocks and some jumped out of bucket

Hey mate Ive got a 7ft
Hey mate Ive got a 7ft graphite rod, I think the brand is precision. It's perfect for casting out light plastics and perfect for catching herring and tailor. Good fun on 3kg salmon aswell. Highly reccomend the rod mate
