hi all,
Me and my mate have been looking at getting some spearguns to use when diving:) Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations? We would be using them around the reefs off mindarie, eg, chasing dhuies, baldies etc in waters around 15 - 30m.
Here's a link to some of the guns we've been looking at:

Ive still got a Mares Cyrano
Ive still got a Mares Cyrano 970 that I've had for 10 years and has never let me down and gets used endlessly. I personally rate them the best for diving on air but get the Cyrano 1100. Also if you wanted a rubber gun for diving on air I wouldn't go bigger than 1.2m.
If your Freediving then deffinatly get a rubber gun up to 1.4m, That way you get a decent range. There are plenty of brands on the market now to choose from.
Hope this helps Jarrad

cheers fellas,
In regards to budget - probably looking up to the $350 - $400 mark.
When you say "pneumatic spearguns" are these the compressed air ones? If so are the compressed air guns better than the rubber band guns?

Pneumatic vs Rubber
It's all a matter of oppinion Wayne, however, if you take a look at almost any freediving site just about all of your experienced freedivers use rubber.
I've used both and I prefered rubber and I'd never go back to using a pneumatic gun.
For me a rubber gun was more comfortable to load, more accurate, much quieter.

yea jay's on it, I use a rubber as said before i have never used a pneumatic gun. i use it for free diving not scuba, if you get a rubber gun make sure it is a railgun as they have a much better aim and get more power. there are heep's of guns for around that price. (some good ones)
