i thought there was a ceratin part of it where u are aloud? i have even seen vids from there
So breathhold spearfishermen have to avoid 6+3+6 = 15% sanctuary no fishing zones where line fishermen have only 6% sanctuary no fishing zones. Breathhold spearfishing IS allowed in the General Use Zone, 85% of the area. Spearfishing competitions and spearing on scuba or gidgees are banned in the entire Marine Park

I believe you're allowed to
I believe you're allowed to spearfish without tanks in the General Use Zone of the marine park around Point Peron. Have a look at the area map at

If you scroll down to page
If you scroll down to page 29 of the Shoalwater Marine Park Management Plan it has a table showing what is allowed and not allowed.

Well you're not allowed to
Well you're not allowed to use any methods to catch them that damage them. Loops, bare hands or a hook.
Take the fun out of it anyway wouldnt it.

It's baron
It's a baron wasteland around there for spear fishing...that is unless your one of the hero's who spear anything that moves
regardless of whether it's edible or not, it could take 20 mins to even see a fish let alone a useable one!

I dont dive either stanno
I dont dive either stanno but from what ive heard after a while you learn by looking if something is size or not and if it looks like it might not be size you dont shoot it id assume :P

Spot on
Spot on. No point shooting something that looks borderline anyway. Even with dhuies, baldies etc. the vast majority are well over size so you tend not to worry too much about something that looks borderline.

well i ended up going.. like fingers said ther is nothing there. we saw lots of gobble guts. like 3 buff bream and thats about it. the occasional red lip morowong.. all i ended up spearing was a big squid and had a shot at some kgs. but they all look pretty dam small apart from like one or 2 that might be about 40cm. apart from that nothing dow there. didnt see any occys or wobbys but it could just be that i was snorkelling and so a few holes i found i didnt wanna go in but i looked into them as good as i can and nothing.
