split ring pliers

recommendations required for good quality (non rusting) split ring pliers???  my cheap set have rusted, but even before that, they didnt handle the smaller split rings very well.

I have three sets of split

I have three sets of split ring pliers basically different size 'hooks' for different size rings. get a pair with a smaller hook on the end for smaller rings.  One of mine is shimano not rusting yet but I rinse them after using them on the boat a few times, can't recall the other brands but good quality stainless is better re rust.

Cheers

Hi Randall,

We have a good range here and our favourite is the Berkley HD Split Ring Pliers.

They handle the small, med and HD big split rings. The quality is excelent, made from high grade stainless steel and spring loaded jaws. This is what us staff use and we also use in the shop when rigging up customers jigs etc

They are well priced and feel free to PM us for more info.

I love the owners, but they do rust if you don't spray inox on them

having said that mine have been on the boat with me every time I've fished since October 2010 (bought them for a trip then) and still going strong.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
