Splitting a container from the USA? Boat or a trailer perhaps?

Hiyas,

I have a load that takes up less than half of the useable space in a 40', do you have anything for the other half?

If yes - then send me a message.

Ta,

till

Not Sure about the difference in cost but u could always just get a twenty foot container if u only need half the space of a forty as u say.

@ thewom: you can split a container in half many different ways, only one of them is by the lineal length.

@ Pob: not really ideal, the on-costs per additional item for customs means you need to be taking about half the container, and that is a very expensive grille.

@ pelagicyachts: its a boat, and most likely ex-FL.

Lots of interest in trailers, I guess you can get a few in a container.

Anyone got tips on US-based manufacturers of boat trailers, pref near Savannah/GA?

Fri, 2012-09-21 08:30

hey mate -i have bought two and both were good
1) Venture is close to GA but only problem is you have to deal with an agent as they dont sell direct - so you end up dealing with a boat yard which as i found out was not ideal (careful as not all their trailers inside 2.5m you have to ask for a modification which is inexpensive but takes time)
2) Fastload make a great trailer and would prob be able to deliver for you - they were really easy to deal with and their trailers are inside 2.5m up to around 25 foot (boats) so should suit

cheers

Panga trailer

Fri, 2012-09-21 08:46

I have a Magic-Tilt model Tals 2660 on my Angler 26 which they make to "Aussie Specs" but still needed some work when it arrived.  Cost was USD 4900, aluminium, electric/hydaulic brakes, 2.5 wide and fits in a hicube 40 container if they take the guards off.  If you are getting the 26 pangas, on the trailer, there is not a lot of room in the container.  This trailer is one they make specifically for Pangas, 3tonne capacity, and a 26 panga with s/s T top, fuel etc weighs about 2.2tonne including trailer.  If you need help, let me know, I realise you rang up about mine a year or so ago when I had it for sale in a fit of madness.

Sat, 2012-09-22 04:48

I can get my hands on 5200lb tandem EZ loaders with the new C frame ally (Stronger than the std I beam) for $4200 with alloy wheels spare with carrier and hub, stainless steel hardware oil bath hubs Teflon skids with ally bunks elec over hydraulic disc brakes on all 4 wheels and all aus spec for $4700. Compared with load rites quote of $6200!

Sat, 2012-09-22 06:15

Loadrites are probably higher cos you cant buy direct?

one thing i have found though is that its impossible to compare "apples with apples"

from different brands as some dont have a wrap around tongue, SS brakelines,

some "ally trailers" actually have only ally sidebeams and US  leafs (im told)

arent properly galvanised if at all?

Sat, 2012-09-22 10:39

Some quotes i got from local Boat Trailer makers here in Perth for something similar to be made, Tandem, Ally I beam, was around the $9000-12000. But guess thats the Australian market for ya. Though thats probably worth more than my boat!!!!   :O

Well for not the distance from the my house to the boat ramp is only 30km and the speed limit never exceeds 90km/h(most only 6o-70km/h) so the old trailer will still do for now. Just probably wouldnt do an long haul up north trip with the old trailer.

Yeah not all yank trailer manufacturers seem to sell roller trailers as well, at least two buyers want rollers instead of bunks.
