Different colours, sizes and actions all pay off on different days.

My favourite is pink but i have most colours exept blue? Im not a fan of the blues dont know why but just not. Have a mix and your bound to get some squid.

Have been doing alot of

Have been doing alot of experimenting with colours of late and am really seing the importance of foil colours rather than the colours on the cloth. Also darker colours seem to work beter in low light conditions even out performing glow jigs. Still doing some more research before putting an article togther.

Here are my 2 most sucessfull colours though.

The bright blue sardine with rainbow foil for bright conditions

Bottom left black/copper with green head for low light conditions

So many factors with squiding though as to what retrieve the squid are hitting on the day. I have been doing my testing by having 3 different colour jigs in the water at the same depth but leaving the rods in the rod holder. This eliminates some variables such as action. However it gets a bit tricky when comparing cloth jigs to hard body jigs. Especially when the hardbodies are a larger size. Also the hard bodies seems to always perform better in better in clear conditions and out fish the cloth jigs.

But that copper hard body kick butt in low light conditions, Throwing a spanner into the work.

As you can see alot more testing needs to be done before i come to any deffinative answers.

Will keep you posted

Changed my mind

Mon, 2011-07-04 21:36

I use $2 jigs and a hand line, mabe if i'm keen i break out the bream rods. I thought this EGI stuff was a bit of a gimick.

But after reading some of the threads about it and looking at those jig's , I'm starting to change my mind.

If i was a squid and saw my jig, then saw one of your jig's , I know wich one i would hit .

Cheers Grant

awesome looking squid jigs, differen't day differen't color, i try limit myself to only using 3 differen't colors and just getting the action right, you start changing too much and you wont really see what works best.
