Whats your method for squidding, drift over weed banks with jigs out ht back, or cast and retrieve.

Both!
I generally cast ahead of the drift towards likely looking areas (sand/weed edges)...since the boat is actually moving towards the jig, it allows me more control over depth/speed of retrieve...and I also have one or two jigs trailing behind the boat (the boat, which is a centre console, is kept in a "sideways" position using a sea anchor so I can have jigs fore and aft) on handlines resting on bollards. If a squid grabs one of these, you can hear the handline spinning around on the bollard and BANG there's your squid!

agreed
same as Auslobster (I cast one around and have a handline sitting on my bait board), but I dont use a sea anchor and I cast behind my drift. Some of the best "spots" are when you cast into a weedbank and jig it out over a sand patch and they come out to pounce on it - very visual unless its choppy/windy!

cast (rod) behind the drift. Use erratic movements then long pauses, wind fast, pause. Usual spots as mentioned, weed banks but sometimes you can score some squid in places that don't look 'squiddy'. Place like that is around the unknown wreck near Rous Head infront of the wheelchair ramp.
Went this arvo for a squid in the boat from Woodies, caught boat limit in 3 hrs. Awsome cruizy arvo in the Sound. Best of luck.....

Went out today near GI.
Went out today near GI. Looked like we were in for a bit of nasty weather, but then it cleared up nicley and ended up being a beautiful day. Not many fish about, manged about 15 or so squid within an hr or so. Nothing huge though.

Went out in the Sound yesterday Uncle. Took the kids and Squid were not hard to find. It's worth spending the money on the better jigs. After a quick squid went and got some Geordies and Skippy. Some of the Skippy and Geordies were up near the 40cm's which made it a great day for the kids. My Bro got a nice flounder as well.
