squiding in cockburn

Went squidin on mi uncles boat this arvo in cockburn and we were catchin endless amounts of cuttlefish but only about 10 squid :( We did a lil bit of fishin on the side caught 6 herring and one KG each one was 35 cms and the other 32 cms. Still something for the pan anyhow.

I got the same in the kayak today ( 10 squid ), the cuttlefish came from rocky or rubbly bottom i think, i could not see the bottom, but the bottom is almost always slightly different.

Yeah i got a couple on very thick seagrass with no sand close by,also about 4 of my squid was over thick seagrass a first for me,,i prefer a mixture of weed and sand patches.

Years ago my mother and sister came running down the Busselton jetty saying come and have a lot at what we caught a weird looking squid, of course it was a cuttly,,

you can use garlic granuals or minced garlic. make sure you put enough in a bowl and then mix it through the cuttlie and leave for about 1/2 hour. when cooking you only need about 100ml of cream or it takes too long for cream to reduce and turn the cuttlie tough
