Steep

Well got back from a few days in Steep. Unfortunately the weather made it unviable to dive the outside along the cliffs, but we had a blast in the passage. Mainly targetted Baldies and Tuskies, got a few parroties too as everyone there thought they were good chew.

Had a few run ins with sharks although nothing serious. Can't wait to get back

The lineo's had no trouble finding plenty of macks too. Shark and Spanish.

was going to ask about sharks, especially if you were diving at night (or just the time of the pictures)

good mixed bag though

Nah, we dived up until dusk a couple of times. By the time we got the boat sorted was dark.

That was my thinking. Diving Steep at night and then pinging fish. RIP Ken Crew came into my mind.

Great shots (and shots) mind you.

The boys went pinkie fishing

Mon, 2009-05-11 18:25

The boys went pinkie fishing at night, got plenty of pinkies apparently, and there are plenty of sharks, lots of bumps.

I would be game for a night dive in one of the reefy areas with a shield. Not the passage though.

PS my last night scuba in Blackwell some yrs back got a nice bump. Thought WTF, looked at my buddy and his eyes told the story. Swan River Whaler and big. Havent been back yet.

I would rather drown or burn than eaten by anything

Yeah, had a tiger of about

Mon, 2009-05-11 18:57

Yeah, had a tiger of about 9ft come in on me while burleying in the passage during daylight hours. Was more interested than anything. I loaded my gun, put the fish on the stringer and by that time it was gone.

More scary if you cant see whats around you though yes, and mroe scary if body language says they are there to feed.

Dive partner had fish taken from him by a tiger, we both saw several sharks whilst diving.

We were actually going out and dumping the 40L offal container for burley, full of mackie heads and frames etc. The things you do...

I wouldnt put my twinkle around feeding tigers

Had one jump behind the boat trying to eat a Estuary cod frame. Reefies got it but what a sight. Fingers and toes away from sharks nose!!!
