Steep point spanaird - best fish I have landed

day one at steep point and I landed this 1.41 m spanish mackerel using a vent right ally bait skirted lure.
tipped the scales at a fraction over 20 kgs and yielded 12 kgs of fillet.
very happy man tonight.

It certainly did. I didn't have my gimble belt on when the strike came. One of the crew got got his lure in and my belt on me in about the time it finally stopped. I reckon 30 - 40 secs?

Now that's a Mack !! Had balloon out steep few trips back with placky gardie !! It got belted but missed the hooks and stinger ?? But boil from the hit was the size of a car !! There some serious Spanish up there that's for sure unreal fish mate great job !!

Well done mate. Looks like the times are a changing from the recent Monkey Mia effort. Good to get a filler early on in a trip. Only have to find another 8kgs apart from the meals.
That one looks bigger and meaner than my PB 24kg one off dampier. Perhaps my scales were out, or the fishing "tall tales" hit me.
As for a blue shirt, would match a blue and yellow hat much better than that purple thingy on your noggen
