Stella Owners

Am looking to upgrade and would love to hear from anyone using a Stella, what rod have you coupled up with.

Because of the price the outfit needs to be fairly flexible, as in from rocks to boat etc.

... if you're a little bit crazy. Popping rods are too long for bottom fishing.

Usually, Stellas are purchased for highly specific purposes. It will be almost impossible to recommend a 'flexible outfit'.

Instead of trying to do everything with one big price tag, I recommend you look at buying a few less expensive items that can do their each specific task better. For example, a TLD25 on an Ugly Stick will do a far better job than a Stella and say, a popping outfit.

Good luck

Yes as Kasey mentioned, there's no best one outfit.

I would look at what I do more often and spend the majority of the budget there and cheaper rods for other less frequently used purposes.

What do you intend to do with the Stella more often?? What size is the reel???

personally I have two stella's a 10k and a 20k, used for popping and jigging, bothing different used on different rods, 10k I use for popping and main spinning while on the boat, 20k is the tool for monster GT's :) found the 10k is nicely balance on the KingMac Spin by Shimano, 7ft from memory, light but on the 8kg side, way too light for bottom fishing

Should have clarified a bit

Should have clarified a bit more. I am ok in the 15kg and over bottom bouncing rigs, but need something that will fish off the rocks, salmon etc, that will also be practical in a boat flicking lures or maybe snapper fishing in 10 - 20 mtrs.

Am i asking too much ?

yeh 4000FD would be your best bet for what you're wanting. Run PE 2 (20-30lb) and a 6'5" to 7' flicky rated to PE2 as well. That way you can flick lures, jig with little stuff and driftbait for pinkies.

Infact just sold Seaquest the exact sort of outfit you're chasing. He had the HR Sylphy 6'5" and a Saragosa 4000 and 20lb Sunline Super PE.

How bout looking at the sustain or luvias.

IMO with the type of fishing you're doing... you don't really need a stella. Don't get me wrong, the stella is stellar. But you could save $ & still have a very good outfit.

I've got a couple... but only use them for hardcore work when nothing else will take the punishment.

unlkess you specifically want a Stella, something like a twinpower or even a certate will be more than adequate.

Heck, I'd buy something half the price like a Luvias and not worry so much about smashing it on rocks and fish the thing til it breaks - then use the leftover money for better lures.

Horses for courses of course.
