Yeah i thought that as well

Wed, 2016-02-17 11:04

Yeah i thought that as well mate but on doing a bit of research consensus was that they rarely show up on a sounder .Maybe some of the gurus on here can throw a bit of light on the subject.

echo

Wed, 2016-02-17 11:36

Any matter object will show up as it will even if it weakens /asorbs some of the sound echo will still return an echo hence the density colour differences

As said before can pick up a shark

point taken  did a bit more

Wed, 2016-02-17 14:52

point taken  did a bit more reading on it and yeah apparently you will get a reading but not as good a reading as a fish with a swim bladder will. Not familiar with the lowrance set up as i have a furuno been using it for years caught heaps of fish and still find it hard to call what particular fish is showing  just that if you get a solid reading my sounder will show either yellow or dark red and it's off the bottom then it's going to be decent. As the fellas said above keep comparing the book shots to yr shots   clear as mud eh lol

Contrary to what some believe,

Wed, 2016-02-17 15:15

it doesn't need a swim bladder to be picked upon a sounder. Basic misconception. if it will bounce an echo, it will give a return.

My lead sinkers, craypots and crab nets dont have swim bladders but i see their echo descending on the sounder.

 So what would you reckon

Wed, 2016-02-17 16:06

So what would you reckon would have the better reading between a large fish and a shark around the same size given one has a swim bladder and the other doesn't, i thought that the bladder helped give a better read. Got me curious now need to get it confirmed as the fellas rnd the bar last night couldn't agree lol.
