Stonker Dhu and a Goodz day out!
The plan for Sunday was to head out for a couple hours on sunset to try our luck at the pinkies but by mid-morning we realised the weather was just too nice so we decided to put the boat in at midday and head out to the 40s out from Rockingham. Second drift Ben hooks up solid on the jig and after a 5-10 minute tussle up pops this stonker 16kg dhuie!
I also managed a couple sambos on jig before heading back home.
Goodz joined Ben and I yesterday and we were on the water just after 5am. We tried a spot on ffb that Albee Mangles had given us the day before where he has been having some good sessions lately. I kicked it off with a mid 50s pinkie right on sunset, then Goodz landed a tiny pup Dhu on plastic, then a double hook up on pigeon pair 60cm Dhus in the burley trail.
Goodz was having some fun on the light gear on the skippy in the burley trail and I dispatched another mid 50s pinkie to the eski. I also hooked one of the big sambos that were hanging around the burley trail which bricked me pretty quick on the 15lb gear. Ben was killing it on a small Caprice kid jig under the boat landing a nice Harly and something else that kept us guessing for a while and couldnt believe it when it popped up! Gotta love the coulours on both fish.
Called it a morning after I pulled up a huge black ray so we rigged up for the 40s and upped anchor. It was pretty quiet demersal-wise out in the 40s, bar one blackass but we did have some fun on the sambos! Goodz was showing us jigging newbies how it was done!
I also boated a couple, finally got to put a solid bend in my new Temple Reef/Saltiga PE6 combo!
Goodz then finished the day off with another nice fish.
Ended up with a nice bag, all of it except the BA from five fathom bank which was interesting, couldve bagged out on demersals in the first few hours if our plan was just to stay in close. Very nice day out in good company, looking forward to the next trip out Goodz and some stonker Dhus to hit the deck!

Albee plenty of fish went back, dont stress! Spewwing we didnt get into the pinks like you have been though.
Dant the predicted feeding times have been eerily accurate lately, that Dhu was smack bang on the major feed time.

Just curious when the guts come out like that, do you pop it before sending it back down or just send it down with a release weight.
Bet that made nice fillets (to last a week!)
