stradic fj vs Daiwa ballistic

hi guys

getting my tax return soon and ive been looking into getting a new setup!

ive been looking at either the stradic fj5000 or the daiwa ballistic 4000 so i can use it for tailor salmon etc... Im going to load it up with 25lb sunlinMost likely going to pair it up with a shimano bushy lure legend

looking for opinions on which to choose (pros/cons). any suggestions are welcome!

cheers

FJ 5000 hands down. Not just because I hate Daiwa reels but because the Stradic has been around for a very long time & has had a terrific track record for that entire time.

I own both and happy with either. I think everyone exaggerates how much better the stradics are. Having said that, for what u need go the stradic for more line capacity and higher drag, not that you'll need it set that high....plus shimano fanboys might have a hissy fit seeing a daiwa reel on a shimano rod haha

stradic over the ballistic

Sat, 2013-07-13 16:10

stradic over the ballistic for sure even though i love my daiwa gear ballistic is a bit of a let down id buy an aird to thrash over it if its just for tailor an salmon off the beach an stones and put more into the rod , those bushy rods are fairly ordinary so make sure you get a hold of one before you make a purchuse you could do better for the money.

aird combo's are going for $150  8'5 15-40g 4000 aird reel awesome for the price quick email to daiwa an a pic of your recipt will get you an extra spool as well ;)

good luck with what ever you choose plenty of tailor out an about atm

 stradics are a lot more

Sat, 2013-07-13 16:13

stradics are a lot more robust than the ballistics. and to mention, not plasticky! Lots of flex in the ballistic rotor and bail cam.............

Well it will mainly be for

Well it will mainly be for tailor and salmon but it would also get a bit of boat use for snapper etc... The rod choice was just caus rots fairly cheap. Jetty rat recommended the pelagic spin but I'm not sure on the price if that. The reason I was looking at the ballistic is simply the high gear ratio cause it will mainly be lures.

 The Stradic will easily

Sat, 2013-07-13 17:07

The Stradic will easily handle a big pinky & the retrieve ratio is more than fast enough for tailor & salmon lures. I use my 5000fj mostly for tailor lures & I find myself consciously having to wind slower. Otherwise  I'm retrieving too fast & that's with 55g metals & richter plugs, I really have to slow it down when I tie on a stick or minnow.

if your talking the kingy

Sat, 2013-07-13 17:07

if your talking the kingy spin 722 in the bushy lure rod thats a 15-24kg rod i think , shimano jewel 762 5-8kg would do everything from chucking stickbaits , twistys etc at tailor an salmon from the shore an decent plastics rod for snapper etc from the boat for the the price think they are $100
