Suba Gear and / or Diver for Mooring maintenance.

I've got a mooring in Freshwater Bay sitting in about 11m of water that needs the mooring line cleaned up.

(Growth weight is starting to affect the bouyancy of mooring buoy)

The normal crew I get to do any maintenance aren't returning calls (they've always been hard to get hold of at the best of times), so I thought I'd put it out there to see if anyone on here knows what to do and is keen to earn a few dollars to clean it up.

Just neet a good solid scraper, a blade and decent set of protective gloves to protect from mussels / barnacles.

Alternatively I thought someone may have a spare scuba kit they could lend / hire to  me - I should be able to find my wetsuit somewhere !.

(I  haven't got any in-date tanks, and haven't used my own gear for over 15 years - and don't even know where it's stored at the moment as we're all packed up while building a house.)

I haven't got a PADI ticket as I did my training under Jack Su's diving academy over 20yrs ago (now defunct) - I assume a PADI ticket etc is required to hire any gear from a shop ?

I did the first few metres free-diving a few years back and the growth always seems to come off easy once you get a scraper/blade underneath it - not sure what happens down deep though.

If anyone is keen or able to help out, please let let me know ASAP.

Or maybe if someone can suggest another reliable mob to do the work ?

Thanks,

Dizz.

tank (should be full of air), reg and bc(bc is an oldie ), just return the tank back with air. Would you need a shark shield as well for the bull sharks lurking around?

I'm in Noranda, near Dianella

cheers

Thanks for the replies and PM's fellas.

I reckon the diving mob must read the forum - after 3+ weeks of no responses I got a phonecall less than 30 mins of posting the thread !

I'm still sorta keen to do it myself and check it all out.

But a shark-shield for Bullies lurking in the Swan ? - Seriously, are they a real problem ?

I suppose there's going to be a pile of barnacle & mussel guts coming off it - hope it's not good Bully burley! .. Haha.

The diving mob can't do it for 2 weeks or so, so I'll have a think about the options.

I'll respond to the PM's ASAP.

Thanks again guys.
