Suggestions???

I have one , but it is an antique and moves like one!  It takes 8 sec from switcing on till it is ready to take a shot and the shutter activates only 2 sec after you press the shutter release!  Cycle time before the next shot is 6 sec!!! Needless to say, this makes it a pain in the  behind when taking fishing photos.

So........ I am in the market for a new digital camera.  Any suggestions?  I am after one that is small enough to put in my pocket, not one of the big fancy ones.

digital camera free when she signed up for a mobile phone contract. 8 megapixels, about half the size of a packet of cigarettes, takes great pics. Not sure what model it is, but I can check for you when I get home if you want.

Well worth a look.

Fuji Film F50fd - Why, super fast start up, no viewfinder = bigger screen and lowlight photo's have little noise. Very easy to get pro looking photo's. Just turn the wheel to flower setting, point , shoot and you get this...

Any idea what they cost now?  Don't want an expensive fancy doodle that might get destroyed by the salt environment soon! Just something simple.

Olympus

Just bought one of those Olympus Waterproof to 3m point and shoot models as a work camera Alfred. 7.1Mp and seems to take a good pic. Will be handy on the boat too. No need to worry about splashes.

Olympus Waterproof

Fri, 2008-03-07 18:27

I got one of the olympus waterproof cams after drowning my other cam while fishing. They are rated waterproof to 3 metres, though I have dived to at least 6 for short periods of time without probs. I've also dropped it a few times with no probs. It's a rugged camera, great for taking fishing. Doesn't take an SD card. Mine was around $599, probably cheaper now. The pics are ok, though judging by some of Tailor Marcs shots, the sharpness and colour saturation are better in the cybershot.

$299

Fri, 2008-03-07 18:30

Just picked it up for $299. There is a 10m version but it is in the $500 range.

Is shoch proof to 1.5m and has an XD card. No real issue Alfred as a card reader is only $20 anyway. Only got it yesterday but pictures seem OK.

Old models were waterproof to 1.5 metres (5ft). New ones are 3 metres (10ft).

10 metres would be sweet.

Fri, 2008-03-07 18:54

Just did some googling and realised I have the 10 metre one :s Might have to do some deeper dives :) I should add that it doesn't take instantaneous photos, you press the button and wait a second or two, which is a pain for action shots.
