suzuki df 140 warning/information

ok warning may be a bit strong! but just to let df140 owners know that if you need a part and they (suzuki) tell you it's not available dont beleive them.

A Few weeks ago I had a problem with my df140 idling at no less than 2000 rpm, after researching this I found the problem may be the "air bypass screw" it's located in the throttle body, when I found it I found that the head had been pretty badly chewed up, it's plastic! (by the bloke who did the pre delivery in 2012 no doubt (I dont think it would have come from the factory like that) eventualy with a bit perseverance I managed to get it out but it was beyond reuse, so I jumped on the net and couldnt find it listed as a part although I could see on the digrams at browns point marine in the us the place where it should be, it's in the throttle body, so I emailed them to ask about it they told me it was not available as a seperate part and was part of the throttle body...about $650.00 us so I thought Bollocks to that so emailed suzuki marine in aus and they said to contact my local dealer which I did only to be told the same...not available as a seperate part so I thought Bollocks..again and started doing research on this little screw,

well it appears it IS available as a seperate part....but only if you have a df60 70 or 300! so I again contacted my local dealer and give THEM the part number and they ordered it for me and it's now in my possesion, so just because somethings not listed as a part for your motor use the advanced search at browns point and you may find the part is used on other motors but not listed for a df 140. the throttle body here is about $900 ............the screw cost me $12 something!

That sort of thing happens when manufacturers don't distribute and represent their own product.

How are people going to pay for there retirement if you shop around and look for honest people and ones that are prepared to help you , Some one has to pay for the pension now.

It's all good now problem wasnt the screw but I couldnt do anymore until I giot it it was just the switch wasnt activating when in the neutral position so I adjusted that and all is good, I also raised the motor a bit to see if it would help that buisness with water coming over the back at low speed....testing on the weekend, fingeres crossed

 Have you  contacted Brett

Sat, 2014-05-31 18:56

Have you  contacted Brett Ward , just fitted a new motor on my new 7.62 centre console,  cant recommend him highly enough , does an awesome job, and at a very significant saving compared to others , over 1500 cheaper on fitting cost than a couple of very large boatyards one in bunbury the other in spearwood (mob with a very long history of boat building in wa, that I previously had fit 100 hp yammy 4 st on my old boat 2 yrs before and all I got was extremely poor service and lies),he fitted all my electrics as well , wiring job was spot on and all conduited and well hidden , he is a perfectionist , he is based in pinjarra and bibra lake (tied up with leisure cat) 0407384437 you wont be sorry,

Having dealt with a few different suppliers and mechanics over the years , Brett Ward stands head and shoulders over the rest for value , work quality and trustworthiness.

 Have you tried platinum

Sun, 2014-06-01 23:36

Have you tried platinum boating? The owner regan drives from Perth up to karratha once or twice a year to service outboards for us up here. He has good service and tells you straight up how it is. Nice bloke.

Mate your experience with the Brett is far and away different from myself and alot of others on various forums , I can only speak for myself and various other friends with a colective experience totalling in over a hundred years of boating from tne late 60's til now  , myself and my friends have so far been extremely impressed with his work standard and until we experience otherwise will continue to use and support  Brett , your experience seemsto be the exception to the rule and I am sorry to hear about l , but I will not cease to  recommend him from my very positive experience !
