Hi all
Planning for boat trip along swan river on weekend with family to include bit of fishing for flathead etc
Not done it before so wondering what's recommended launch ramp and areas good for a fish. Also any areas to stop off for picnic etc
Is it even worth launching from Woodies and heading into river that way?
Cheers

woodies to river is a bit of a drive
if your after flathead i would launch at the luewen boat ramp and head downstream to around the flats near the traffic bridge. picnic well theres some nice spots up stream but doubt there would be many flathead due to the rivers condition at the moment plenty of bream in the river at the moment just fish near snags close to shore or pilons etc good luck
wont catch em sitting at home!

River Map
Without knowing where your coming or going from check this map out shows locations of picnic areas toilets etc http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/mediaFiles/marine/MAC_G_Boating_SwanCanningRiver.pdf
2 nice spots I can vouch for out of a SW breeze is Freshwater and Matilda Bays and should have no worries pulling a boat on or near shore and both not far from ramps either. Sorry can't help with fishing but both spots are not too bad for a bit of crabbing.
