Swan River Night Dive
Myself and another fishwrecked member Silly have been diving in the river in the Mosman Park area the past two nights with mixed results.
the first night we pretty much got used to night diving again as haven't been able to dive for months with all the dredging. The visibility varies from as little as 1 foot to maybe a metre at best. Apparently they are dumping dredge material offshore and the tides are bringing the silt in. Anyway we mainly tried the deeper water and only managed a few prawns and 1 decent crab.
Last night we stayed shallower in approx 8-10m and did better with the prawns and crabs and also picked up half a dozen scallops. Most of the prawns are still pretty small but the crabs are getting a bit better. We Lost a lot of prawns due to the poor visibility and our technique (or lack there of)
Anyway good to get a few dives in. There are loads of flathead in the shallows, some bigger ones as well. Also could hear the mullas croaking out deeper which is a good sign. The blowies are in plague proportions though but some things never change.
Cheers

Prawns were a bit light on, but at least you got out for a dive! I haven't been in the river since end of June and now the crays have mostly bolted I might have to get back in.
