Swell

just looking for people's thoughts on conditions between carnac and garden tomorrow morning. Was gona head for a last snapper bash but not sure if its a bit big to get past islands. Its usually dark when i go through so a little hesitant.

Be hesitant it's a good vertue

It can be a very unpleasant experience having a big green wall suddenly appearing out of the dark and right in your face.

IMO if the forecast is for 2 - 2.5 metre swell you should ask yourself, do I really need to have a feed of fish/crays that bad..without knowing the size of your boat.

With the swell at 2.4 give it a miss. The swell will rise through there as it gets bottled up.

Forecast

Sat, 2016-10-15 12:09

With this forecast for tomorrow offshore I have had a change of plans. Swell will be huge overnight

Sunday: South to southeasterly 15/20 knots. Seas: 1.5/2 metres, decreasing to 1 metre during the morning, then increasing to 1/1.5 metres by early evening. Swell: Southwesterly 3/5 metres, decreasing to 2/3 metres around midday.

Cheers for the input guys. I have been through on a 2.2m swell in 4.75m boat no worries but not after conditions like today. Will be in my 6.4m but don't think that matters. Might just go for squid instead to be safe since only going for fun not fillets.

I was thinking same, head out west of garden island , but giving it a miss now given swell .

Planning instead on fishing in Sound instead, I presume it will be ok in the sound despite the swell ?
