shimano biomaster drag problems
Submitted by Plug on Sat, 2016-10-08 10:15
Hi everyone
I resently went up to exmouth and was using a brand new shimano biomaster sw, it was running well until teh drag went silent. The drag still works fine but it only some times clicks. The spool is fin but the toothed wheel, i am pretty sure, is borken because it spins. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with the reel if so how did you fix it.

I had this problem too. I took the spool off and put it back on and it's back to normal. Really do expect more from a $380 reel

NOT THE BIOMASTER
Never had issues with the biomaster apart from the drag not being as loud as it was a year ago but have had many problems with the sustains drag clicker i highly recomend not ever buying a sustain and to be honest your better off buying a saragosa over any other mid range shimano reel as it is built different doesnt look as good as the biomasters stradics sustains etc but you will never have as many problems and if u want to get a biomaster have a look at the jdm models (japan domestic market) they use better parts then they do for the australian market but what i think is instead of going through the mid range reels and ending up spending around 1600 on different reels throughout a year or two just bite the bullet and buy the stella or a saltiga thats just my advice also shimano has a ten year warrenty so just post it to them tell them what happend and they should fix it free of charge then either sell the reel once fixed and get a saragosa or stella .

Warranty
Hi, if the reel is new should be covered free under warranty. You can download a warranty repair form from the Shimano website. The more of these problems get reported the more chance we have of getting better products in the Aus market

doesnt have to be new
shimano rods and reels are all coverd by a ten year warrenty and i dont think the biomasters are older then ten years so just send it in they will fix it

Yep had the exact same
Yep had the exact same problem with my biomaster 4000 v2. Drag clicker only worked sometimes and then the handle snapped.. Wouldnt buy another one. Sent it back to shimano for the clicker and broken handle arm. Seems to be all good now
