Switch bait rig

Hi all after guidance from those who done some switch baiting. Heading up to exmouth in a few weeks and going to change it up and switch bait a few days instead of running lures all the time. Just wondering how to set up rigs in regards to leader size and circle hook size. Also will be running 2 hookless skirts, should I still be going usual trolling speed while doing this?

cheers sammy

Hey Sammy,what are you

Hey Sammy,

what are you targetting. sails and blacks or 600m+ for blues?

I spend a lot of time switch baiting running spin gear.i leave all my leader length on the wind on and only have half a metre or so on the hook rig. makes it easy to pitch the baits / livies. 10,15, or 24kg owner SSW in line circles 10/0 go good for sails and blacks upto 100kg. for leader size 100lb is fine upto 15kg line but 24kg i use 150lb to handle the extra abbrasion. sailfish dont care much what speed you are running so i find 5-6kts is a good speed to keep your lures working good and still slow enough to get a good visual on a fish. marlin you can run your normal speed a bit faster but you need to be quick to iether pull the boat up and get a livie to it or they move on a lot quicker. soft oscars are good switching teasers, they swim well even going slow and with the soft heads fish will not get spooked and keep hitting them over and over again. heavy tackle and switching to big skip baits is dfferent again thats when you can get the boat moving 8-9kts and try to feed a big fish a big bait... not something i have done a lot of so will leave the advice to the heavy tackle pros- tight lines
