Just finished volunteer research on Tailor.. Over a period of 12 weeks fishing for 2hours one night a week. Approx 1500 Juvenile Tailor were caught and released. With any luck these Tailor will stay in WA waters. We should be in for a bumper season when these tailor reach legal size.

Hi Ya, How many of you
Hi Ya,
How many of you fishing, because 1500 tailor in 24 hours (or a smidge better than one per minute!!) is damn fine fishing. Don't get me wrong, I'm NOT saying or suggesting it didn't happen, just interested to find out how may people it took to catch em.
Cheers.

in a couple of hours in the right spot you could prob alone get atleast 20 or 30 tailor in the small size, get a heap of anglers together and do that over 12 weeks and the numbers can add up ody

Hi Ya,
Yes, not doubting that Matt, was just interested in how many people it took. I suppose the question was asked because, if it took 100 people to catch that many in that time, then the stocks aren't looking too good. If it was 10, then they are looking pretty healthy.
In fact, when I was in Kalbarri on honeymoon (29 years ago, man that's a life sentence) I was getting 20 or more in an hour off the beach each night at the mouth of Wittacarra (spell) Creek. All were around to 35cm mark. Wife was rugged up in blankets to keep warm & I in shorts a T-shirt was running a sweat. More often that not they were already hooked and ready to come in by the time I had the slack out of the line. Best fishing I have ever experienced.
Cheers.

On one evening around 350 tailor were caught and released which was more than the total number recorded for the whole 12 week period last year.last time we had numbers anywhere near this high was back in 1996 with around 1200 Tailor in total.
This year was the highest on record.

Hi Ya,
Thanks Carolyn. At that rate an average of 4 fish per hour isn't to shabby. Most would be OK with that.
Cheers.
