tailor trolling

went trolling for tailor in the swan with a spot of crabbing on the side. Got a few small blueys and a burried female but all on the small side so no keepers!

Trolled alongside point walter following the birds and picked up some solid tailor all above the 30cm range on the Halco Laser pro 120 and my brother using a chrome twisty. The dolphins moved in and the birds and tailor scattered. We then moved upriver a bit and found more birds diving. Then it was on like donkey kong catching tailor after tailor! My brother caught more albeit smaller ones on the chromy and whilst he was pulling in his fish my lure was just sitting in the water and getting hit! We ended up getting our bag limit for a good feed on the BBQ with family and mates! The twisty was catching more whilst the halco was accounting for the bigger specimens with the biggest going 40cm. Also not one was undersize and all were nice, fat and healthy!

Excellent fun with my brother catching his first fish on lure.

was a great session hadnt been tailor trolling for along time hit the same spot and same results although this time size was huge and we had the birds to guide us! just interesting to not get any undersize ones! Have photos but cant put them up as they are over the rmax megapixel allowance! if anyone knows how to reduce the megapixels count after taking the photo please let me know!

Timmo I use free software called " image resizer " I'm pretty sure thats what it's called ....just a right button click on any stored images gives you resizing options I find it very  good and easy....by the way well done on the tailor look forward to the pics...

I usually just save it in paint and make the picture smaller, trying to keep the aspect the same, then re save it if it doesnt work

ref Swan River report

Fri, 2011-12-02 13:22

Good report thanks.

Sounds like you got some nice Tailor and had fun.

ref the pics size

Save the pics to your computer,

(Now make a second folder (Swan Tailor sesh 2) and save them again into this folder as insurance if you make a mistake)

(You can delete this second folder later if you don't want to keep the reduced pics.)

open the picture on your computer,

right click and select "open with.. microsoft picture manager,

then at the top click on edit picture

then click on resize and when this opens clik on predefined width and height,

any of the web small web large or email small email large to get the size.

Hopefully this will work.

cheers

 Sstevee, I'd suggest

Sstevee, I'd suggest anywhere between 3-5kns, depending on your lure, and do not put it far away from your boat, 7m or so

Thanks mela, is it ok to have it that close whilst running the outboard or do most guys use electrics?

 I've got it running that

Sat, 2011-12-03 15:28

I've got it running that close while running a massive, noisy, old inboard .... I guess it triggers their attention. Try to put it out more if you're not getting any luck, best thing to keep in trying different things, and lures, as they are there now, that's for sure.

Cheers

River is thick with them at

Mon, 2011-12-26 12:36

River is thick with them at the moment. My weapon of choice is a gold 20g halco twisty. All the ones in my tackle box are chewed up big time. Only problem is if their is wind they don't hold position as well as a bibbed minnow.
